Office of the Attorney General
Attorney Generals serve as chief law enforcement officials for each state or commonwealth within the executive branch of government, nominated by Presidents and confirmed by Senates, overseeing their respective departments of justice and state prosecutors as well as providing advice to both Presidents and members of executive branch regarding legal issues. Its attorneys provide legal advice to Members, committees, House officers and employees without regard to political affiliation and defend them in litigation arising out of or relating to their official duties; in addition they assist with managing administrative and financial operations at the House.
